Sayuri Shirai received the Keio Gijuku Award from Keio University in 2022. She serves as a member of the World Economic Forum’s External Network on the Future of Long-Term Investing, Infrastructure, and Development. In addition to this, she holds several advisory and editorial positions, including: Technical Committee Member at the New Energy and Industrial Technology Development Organization (NEDO); Councilor at the Institute for International Monetary Affairs (IIMA); Editorial Planning Committee Member for World Economic Review.
She regularly offers expert analysis on international economic and financial issues as a Contributing Writer for Central Banking.com and The Japan Times. In 2023, she founded the ADBI–ADB Climate Finance Dialogue with the Asian Development Bank Institute (ADBI) and the Asian Development Bank (ADB). This initiative aims to promote the development of climate finance markets and financial system stability in Asia. It facilitates regular informal dialogue among central banks and financial regulators across the region, while also providing capacity-building workshops. The Dialogue focuses on critical themes such as: Climate-related disclosure standards under the International Sustainability Standards Board (ISSB); GHG emissions accounting; Transition finance; Measurement of financed emissions. By offering conceptual frameworks and synthesizing global trends, the initiative supports enhanced understanding and policy dialogue among Asian stakeholders.
